Cayden : 7 days old

What better way to start off a new month than to blog about a newborn?  Cayden is just the most adorable baby.  I absolutely love spending time with him.  It's just so calming to be around him.

I wanted to do this shoot with Cayden as soon as possible (after he was in the world for at least 5 days), so I booked the shoot with his parents Charne and Abner (see their maternity shoot here) to do the shoot when he was 6 days old.

Cayden was my youngest newborn (that I've photographed before), so I did a lot of research about photographing newborn babies before this shoot.  However, I've come to accept that experience really is the best teacher!  Cayden taught me so so much about babies; like babies don't really sleep all the time; and you need to reserve a lot of time to photograph them so it's best to schedule the shoot early in the day; and they really not fond of a lot of nonconstructive noise (I played the sound of rain on my iPad, as advised by a fellow photographer specializing in newborns), he, in fact, prefers voices -loud, different voices.   So after photographing him for a day, I had to go back the next day to photograph him again, 'cause I really wanted him to sleep in some of the photo's.  And sleep he did.  Of course I didn't really mind, 'cause I'd get to spend more time with him, and he's parents were quite ok with the idea too :)

All in all, Cayden was such a cool baby to photograph - awake and asleep.  He is just so adorable! I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed photographing him, so I'm hoping you enjoy the end results too.
