My little niece, Zealia, is two years old! And she’ll be very proud to tell you
that herself. Ask her how old she is and
she’d tell you two, unsure of how many fingers to keep up. My sister and I decided to take her to the
beach on her birthday. That is after all her favorite place to be it. Before we
went to the beach though, we went to candy heaven, a shop in the boardwalk
(opposite the beach) to get her a big, colorful sweet – it is after all her
birthday.
I’m not sure if the sweet was a good idea though. After giving it to her, she paid absolutely
no mind to us, until we said the word ‘water’, of course. And when we did, she could point out exactly
where the water is.
When we got to the beach, we allowed her to wet her
feet. It was way too cold to swim and we
knew her mother would be furious if we allowed her too. The cold didn't bother her one bit,
though. And when I told her that it’s
time to go home, she politely told me to wait.
And then she walked a bit deeper instructing me to ‘come’. And I would go, just to pull her back to
where the water is angle-deep, until she gave up and just stayed there.
